Don't just sit there...

...ask me something.

Thanks to the havering Twitts on Bookface, I don't believe that the outside world really needs another minute by minute update on the boring life of a complete stranger. Instead, my goal with this blog is to introduce subjects that we can all relate to, drawn from the realities of running a small business in the "creative" sector.

That sector is not as dodgy as it sounds. I don't have a pager and I don't do hotel visits. I'm a freelance specialist in marketing communications. Clear as mud? Think conceptual direction, graphic design, package design, illustration and copy writing. The full creative package for building a brand and selling a product or service. More detailed examples on my website: http://www.deepfreelance.com

After many years walking the walk in creative companies worldwide, I was just crazy enough to try and offer big agency results, without the big agency overheads. So I started "Deep" in early 2009, just as the world went sailing over Recession Falls in a lifeboat full of women and children who looked suspiciously like "financial experts" wearing bad disguises.

Since we're all in the same post-recessionary lifeboat, here's hoping that my professional experience might be useful to you in creating a brand that sends the RIGHT messages.

On a daily basis, I run into common marketing communications issues which can stop a business from really connecting with its customers. I'm not going to give away all my secrets, but it's nice to think that a few words here, might save you asking the same questions of a big agency (who'll give you answers at a couple of hundred bucks an hour).

So if you promise to ask me questions, I promise not to haver.

Best thoughts,

PS: That's far too many words. So here's a drawing. It's of the recurring dream I had on holiday in Norway. Nine months after I sketched this wood carving of a pregnant woman, my first child was born. I can't explain it. I must've known something I didn't know.

Now THAT'S deep.
